NABR is an independent research, technology, and strategic business consulting company serving the automotive collision repair industry, working to enable an industry-wide rational pricing model for labor rates, and to help level the playing field for payment of necessary but not-included repair procedures and operations, all for the ultimate care and safety of the consumer.
Through its innovative Variable Rate System (VRS) online software, NABR provides extensive labor rate data and paid procedures data to both collision repairers and insurers.
Collision repairers use the VRS market data and online suite of tools to better understand competitive labor rates in their market, to help determine the right rates for their individual shop, including special prices for luxury brands and special vehicles, and to search and discover not-included procedures and operations paid across the country.
Insurers can utilize the VRS to help differentiate body shops and justify variable rate payments (deviations from the "prevailing" rate) to different repairers; and to help build a rational pricing model for auto body labor based on variables such as location, vehicle, shop capability, and type of repair. The VRS provides important labor rate and procedures data insurers can use as supplements to their current data sources, to help monitor and respond to market movements in rates, to provide competitive intelligence in what other insurers are paying, all in order to help ensure fair claims settlements and avoid negative impacts to customer satisfaction and loyalty. The VRS also supports specialized applications for insurers such as NABR's new California Standardized Labor Rate Survey, compliant with the CA Department of Insurance's new regulations on auto body repair labor rate surveys.
